Week 7 and the term is flying!

This week our students have participated in mid-year exams for the first time since 2019. The staff have been blown away by the attitude of all students participating in exams as they have worked so hard to ensure they get the best results possible.

If we needed any evidence that we run our exams well,  we had some reassurance this week as we passed our VCAA VCE exams audit with flying colours. I’d like to extend our gratitude to our regular examiner Diana Lawrie who has been a regular in our school for many years. Her continued dedication to ensuring we are compliant in all areas of our VCAA exam processes is something for which we are very grateful. Not to mention our sub-school teams over the years who are always well planned and prepared to ensure the exams run as smoothly as possible.

The audit has also reminded us that our Year 12s have only 10-14 weeks left before the commencement of the 2022 exam cycle. I am confident that as the time approaches they will remain well prepared and confident.

We are also about to commence Semester 2. This means that elective subjects will be changing over for many of our students. This is an opportunity for a fresh start. It’s an opportunity to re-focus and re-engage with your learning becoming more passionate, more positive and, most importantly as you embrace new subjects, more curious.  Semester 2 commences on Wednesday 15th June. New timetables should now be showing on Compass.

I’d also like to extend a huge congratulations to FHC Soccer Academy alumni, Will Wilson, who signed his first professional contract with Melbourne Victory this week. We are so very proud of his efforts finally paying off.

We would love to hear of other alumni with exciting stories. If you have one or know of one please send us the details at fhc@fhc.vic.edu.au

Finally, a reminder that we have our professional practice day planned for Tuesday 14th June. This is a department mandated day and we hope by adjoining it to the long weekend we are causing minimum disruption to our families and community, as we have no scheduled classes that day. Our staff will be here, using this opportunity to engage in report writing, planning and preparation for their Semester 2 classes. I know you join me in being grateful to the staff for all the work they do to ensure our young people achieve their absolute best academically.

Have a wonderful long weekend

Dave
