Parent Teacher Student Interviews Wednesday 14th September

Last Day Term 3 Friday 16th September

Welcome to week 8

This week the 2022 NAPLAN results were released to the school. In 2018 and 2019 the College was producing brilliant NAPLAN results and showing a strong trend of value adding to our students. There is no question that at FHC, and across the State, the Pandemic had a detrimental effect on a large number of students and their learning.

Our Leadership Team have had a forensic analysis of the data that we received on Wednesday this week and we are thrilled to be able to announce that at Year 7 and Year 9 levels in Writing, Reading, Grammar and Numeracy, our students have shown excellent improvements. On behalf of all of the Year 7 and 9 students I wanted to thank everyone who has helped us achieve these fantastic NAPLAN results. Our great staff have worked tirelessly to inspire our students in an environment of high challenge/ high support to work hard to develop their skills.

Improvement across a whole 2 cohorts of students doesn’t come about through one or two isolated factors. Whether it is about culture in the classroom, where students are challenged and supported to improve every session, whether it is about high-quality curriculum and teacher practice or our enrichment program, the Tutor Program, our therapy dogs, our wellbeing team, it is in fact everyone who helps students thrive at school that have contributed to this. It is also about working in partnership with our parent community.

We thank and congratulate you all for challenging and supporting your children. In tandem we can set and maintain high standards and I have no doubt our students are aware of this.

I would also acknowledge supportive factors that assist students to love school. The music teachers, academy coaches and our extra-curricular program all contribute very strongly to a positive culture that promotes learning growth.

These results are particularly rewarding to our Leading Teachers, who lead our staff every day in an inspiring, challenging, and supportive manner. They lead teams of teachers to improve practice. We have employed very well in an increasingly competitive market space. Our teachers are some of the very best, and we are very proud of them.

Expanding on what I have said about working in partnership with our parent community, please make sure you are booking parent / teacher / student interviews in now. They are live and online for you to access, and these feedback sessions help students achieve their best. Half the sessions will be done remotely and half in a face-to-face manner, to cater for as many people as we can and to continue operating in a covid safe manner. We look forward to chatting with as many of you as possible.
