DO YOU HAVE A GRADE 6 STUDENT PREPARING FOR YEAR 7, 2022? WELCOME!
At this time of the year, parents are taking school tours, attending Open Nights and seeking answers to myriad questions about secondary school for their Grade 6 child.
We have developed a mini Grade 6 – Year 7 Transition site with a view to answering as many of your queries as possible both for parents/carers and for your student.
ENTRANCE & COURTYARDS
Located at 178-180 Mahoneys Road, FHC is easily accessible via PTV bus routes and the tram line on Burwood Highway. An additional entrance is accessible via Hawthorn Road.
The entrance to our main building and the General Office is accessible via Mahoneys Road. Visitors are welcome to drive in and park to visit the College. We encourage parents to drop students off outside of the school gates in order to minimise traffic during peak school times.
This courtyard space is located just outside our Staffroom area, our Middle Years and you can see our canteen in the background. There are plenty of seats/tables and grassy areas to sit and chat. A giant chess board and plenty of areas for downball.
Our second courtyard space is located outside of the William Barak Centre (our year 7 base) and is surrounded also by our science and library buildings. Our Welcome BBQ is held here in Term 1 each year and is a fantastic night for families to come together meet and make new friends
WILLIAM BARAK CENTRE
The William Barak Centre is the learning hub for our Year 7’s. Many of the Year 7 classes are held here and student lockers are stationed around the centre.
With the William Barak Centre as their base, students are provided a familiar, secure and comfortable location to return to throughout the day. The spaces are collaborative, bright and spacious.
ASPIRE CENTER
The Aspire Centre has been designed as an open collaborative space for our Later Years students with smaller enclosed rooms spaced around. Our Later Years Team is based here and are on hand for students throughout the day.
OUTDOOR FACILITIES
Our outdoor facilities include a soccer pitch, three tennis courts, oval and a further two enclosed futsal courts. We have an additional outdoor basketball court located behind our Later Years area.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Instrumental Music lessons are free for all Year 7 students. Providing an excellent opportunity for them to enhance their time at FHC and become involved in some wonderful extra-curricular events. We have two lesson spaces plus a recording studio and an ensemble room.
UNIFORM
Our uniform shop offers a good range of items for students. Black shoes which require polish are a mandatory part of our College Uniform.

COLLEGE THEATRE
We are very proud of our College Theatre, with a capacity of up to 400 guests. Our students are encouraged to become involved as technicians, participants in College productions and as presenters during school functions. In addition to the College Theatre we have a Black Box Theatre located in our Later Years precinct.
FOOD TECHNOLOGY BUILDING
Electives are a big part of studying at FHC. This is our Food Tech building, a bright well organised space.
MEET ECHO & CASEY
Meet our newest member of staff – Echo! Echo will begin on site with FHC as a therapy dog alongside her more senior colleague Casey, later this year. Staff and students alike have taken great pleasure in having Casey wandering the rooms and grounds of FHC with Mr Freeman. Echo will start her intensive training in the new year and she already has the staff wrapped around her little paw. Casey is on site with us two days per week and Echo will be with us five days.
STEAM CENTRE
Our STEAM Centre is a place which sees teaching of 21st Century Skills aimed toward giving students a chance to build their independent and creative learning abilities.
