Dear all,
Welcome to week 6.
The term just seems to be flying by. Next week will see the Year 12 exams conclude and the following week Year 22 begins. Students should all have their timetables for Year 22 and I am pretty sure most of us will be happy to put 2021 behind us.
The 2022 year is one of anticipation, excitement, and great promise at FHC. This week we secured $50,000 to install shade sails around our courtyards. We have also requested funds to renovate the IT area in S Block and open it into the newly refurbished Library space. Hopefully we will find out about this soon. We have also progressed to the second stage of funding for a full school solar installation that would see the College move “off the grid” as we look to play our role in reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
Recently one of our students, Charlie Stahis, won the acclaimed Dorothy Shaw Young Writers Competition. This award goes to an Upper Secondary Deaf student each year. Dorothy Shaw was an inspiring deaf woman who advocated for the development of deaf and hard of hearing children’s literacy skills. She was one of the founders of what is now known as Deaf Australia. Charlie is an inspiring member of our College. Charlie submitted an outstanding piece of work, called “The Shaws” which you can read by accessing the link below. Congratulations Charlie we are very proud of you.
Stay safe, stay strong
