Dear all,

Welcome to Week 1. What a huge week.

We started the week at Nunawading Stadium on Saturday night, at the NAIDOC round of NBL 1 Basketball. FHC students Caitlan, Isaiah and Cliffton designed the warmup top worn by all players. Caitlan also read a speech about the Woiwurrung tribe of the Kulin Nations, the original inhabitants of the Nunawading District, the land both FHC and the Nunawading Stadium are on. Welcoming all to the event, Caitlan delivered a wonderful Acknowledgement of Country. Over 40 members of the FHC community Students, Parents and Staff were in attendance.

It was wonderful to see our parents and students at last night’s Course Expo. There were so many great questions as our students navigate their pathway for the next academic year.

We now commence the mammoth task of course counselling each individual child in years 8-11.

Over the next week you and your child will receive an invitation to attend a course counselling interview with one of our trained counsellors. This interview will be held at school and a Webex link will be made available to parents should they wish to join the discussion.

In order to minimise disruption and to ensure we have plentiful time to engage with each student and their families we will be cancelling period 1 for each year level.

On Monday 25th July Year 9s will not be required for their Period 1 class but should arrive at school in time for their course counselling interview.

On Tuesday 26th July Year 10s will not be required for their Period 1 class and should arrive at school  in time for their course counselling  interview.

On Wednesday 27th July Year 11s will not be required for their Period 1 class and should arrive at school  in time for their course counselling interview.

On Thursday 28th July Year 8s will not be required for their Period 1 class and should arrive at school  in time for their course counselling interview.

Once the course counselling process is complete we will collate the data, and courses will run based on student need and numbers.

I’d like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the 14 staff members who have volunteered to undergo additional training in order to be the best course counsellors available to our young people.

The excitement is rising this this week as we head into the final days of rehearsals and preparation for the 2022 College Production of All Shook Up.  Tickets are selling fast but there are still some left.  Join us as we look forward to a great night fun and music inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley.  Book now via Trybooking.

Our FHC Junior Academy Program was back in full swing this week with many excited Grade 4-6 students getting back into their chosen fields.  Junior Academy is a new FHC initiative in 2022, where Primary aged students are invited to attend a 10-week Program facilitated by FHC’s elite Academy Coaches in either Basketball, Performing Arts, Soccer and Tennis.
