Weekly Wrap

Week 6 – Term 2

As we come to the end of Week 6, I’d like to congratulate our staff and students for their participation in Destination 2019 – NEVR Youth Concert. Students from primary and secondary state schools within the North Eastern Victoria Region performed in a variety of massed concert bands, orchestras and choirs at Hamer Hall on Tuesday evening with guest conductors including Mark O’Leary (Young Voices of Melbourne), Rick Prakhoff (Zelman Memorial Orchestra) and Lisa Young (Coco’s Lunch). As exhausting as it was, with a full day’s rehearsal and a full performance in the evening, the event was a brilliant success.  Congratulations to all students involved.

Our Rock of Ages cast are busy preparing for next week’s camp , please remember to access your tickets at the following web address;

Back at school we have been completing our Student Attitude to School surveys at all year levels. The survey captures students’ attitudes and experiences at school and is aligned with the Education Department’s Framework for Improving Student Outcomes. The results of this survey are returned to us in Term 3 and it’s always nice to see the level of pride our students have in their school.

That pride in our school is always visible in the way we wear our uniform however,  as the weather has worsened,  we have noted a few hoodies sneaking onto school grounds. Could I please ask all parents to remind their young people that the hoodie is not a part of our School Council nominated uniform so these items are best kept at home.

A big thank you must go out this afternoon to staff member Jess Hendrickson, who organised today’s Biggest Morning Tea, to help raise much needed funds for cancer research.  There was a happy buzz in the staffroom at lunch time as staff congregated for a chat and something to eat.  So far, we have raised $250.

Finally, can I also congratulate our four cross country winners Freya, Mia, Jackson, Alicia who this week excelled in sport at the School Sports Victoria Interschool Cross Country competition. Each of our winners demonstrated great sportsmanship, grit and resilience. Well done!

Have a great weekend!
