The college is proud of its extensive and successful debating program. In this popular extra-curriculuar activity, students undertake a training program that introduces them to the skills of debating and its practical applications. They then move from training to formalized debating within the Glen Waverley division of Debating Victoria's schools competition.
Junior Debaters

Now it's time for the students in Years 7-9 to have their turn at debating! Sally, Ryan, Samantha and Meagan have been training hard to represent the College and have just taken part in their first debate. They went up against Avila College and performed wonderfully as they argued the affirmative case that "We should ban all medical experimentation on animals". Scoring was close and the College lost by only one point, with the adjudicator commenting on the confident manner in which our debaters spoke. It's a fantastic start for our junior debaters and we wish them all the best for their future debates.
UPDATE: In their most recent debate, our junior debaters won against Emmaus College. Congratulations on your success, debaters!
Senior Debaters

Our
teams of senior debaters have recently concluded their busy season
debating against other schools in the Glen Waverley region. The year
nine debate team of Aiden, Hailley, Alison and Chantelle finished their
season with a narrow loss to Glen Waverley Secondary, arguing the
affirmative case that "Women should be allowed to fight in armed combat
roles". Our year ten team of Ricky, Sandy and Kirby encountered the
challenge of a mystery topic in their debate against Wesley College.
It was a challenge they encountered with ease, defeating their opposing
team with a clear margin.
Congratulations to all senior debaters
this year! They have represented our College with commitment and
enthusiasm and should be very proud of their achievements.
