International Students Program

Forest Hill College is situated to the East of Melbourne in Burwood East, 28 Km from Melbourne’s City Centre. The environment is excellent with rolling hills, beautiful gardens, a big shopping complex and sporting facilities. We are in close proximity to Box Hill, Glen Waverley and Springvale.

International Student Program

Forest Hill College is one of the founding schools in the state to offer an Education Program to International Students. Our program is fully accredited and led by a team of experienced and multilingual staff.

At Forest Hill College we maintain excellent communication with parents, home stay providers, agents and the International Division of DET to ensure that students in our care are safe and happy and are supported to achieve the best possible outcomes. We focus on developing the whole child and have a proven record of assisting students to achieve their academic and career pathway goals.

A key feature of our International Student Program is our onsite Intensive English Language Program (IELP), which is staffed by expert teachers in the area of English as an Additional Language. This program ensures a seamless transition into mainstream classes where students are continually supported and encouraged to develop their academic talents whilst experiencing social and language development in a high quality Australia educational environment.

The success of our International Student Program has resulted in graduates achieving study scores in the top of the state and being offered scholarships to study Engineering and Science at Monash University and accepting places in Commerce at Melbourne University, Medical Science at Sydney University and Commerce at ANU.

Forest Hill College runs a range of specialist academic and sporting programs which are available to International Students. The STEM and STEAM Programs (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and Arts)

Our college Welcomes Full Fee Paying Overseas Students from everywhere! This year: China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Singapore, Colombia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, India and Albania.

Aims of the Program:

  • To provide a high quality education program to full fee paying International Students in a atmosphere of support and encouragement.
  • To enable full fee paying, international students to develop their academic talents and social experience within the Australian environment.
  • To enhance the experience of local students and their internationalization by exposing them to students from other cultures and experiences.
  • To facilitate opportunities for teacher exchange and student study visits.

Coodinator –  International Student Program 

Chrissie organises and monitors student homestays, maintains contact with parents and guardians, assisst students with their subject selections and helps monitor both their academic and social progress
Ms Nancy Deng

Administration Assistant-International Student Program

Nancy assists Jacki and Chrissie with the large amount of paperwork required in running the program. She also assists students, guardians and the language aides.

Multicultural Ethnic Aides are provided to assist students with their studies and to work with the program leader to assist student integration into the program.


Intensive English Language Program (IELP)

We provide an Intensive English Language Program, run by highly trained and qualified English as Additional Language (EAL) teachers, to prepare students for entry to mainstream classes. EAL support is provided in accordance with the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s policy.

Students are carefully assessed in regard to their readiness to enter mainstream classes.

The College provides a range of teaching and learning programs within a broad curriculum. Student progress and well-being is carefully monitored and regularly reported on to the International Student Program Unit of the Department of Education – Victoria, Guardians and Parents.
