Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program

Bring Your Own Device or BYOD is a technological trend in education and the corporate world. It recognizes that technology and choices about technology are very much personal. This opens up learning opportunities for students providing them with the opportunity to access “anywhere, anytime” learning.

The BYOD device provides students with the opportunity for more personalized learning by having access to the technology at home and school. The intent of this program is to promote individual, differentiated learning for each student in the program.

The College seeks to promote the use of BYOD in the learning journey of students, to enhance their learning outcomes and develop key technological skills for the 21st century.

Computing devices are quickly evolving, becoming highly mobile and interconnected with the wider world. They are no longer restricted to presenting information (eg word processors, presentation software) and accessing information from a set location. They enable information to be found 24/7, from any location, instantaneously. They readily allow us to communicate, to collaborate, to share material and to solve complex problems. Our BYOD program provides students with the ability to develop these key skills.

How Does The Program Work?

Students are expected to bring their own computing device to school every day, students will be provided access to a college email account, printing services and connection to the school wifi and internet by the IT department.

Students are eligible for a free license to install Microsoft Office which is included with their college email account. We highly recommend obtaining insurance for accidental damage, loss and theft. Please contact the IT department if you have any questions about obtaining a device.
